Introduction

Mathieu Bernard-Reymond is a French photographer born in Gap (France) in 1976. He lives and works in Lausanne, Switzerland.

He graduated from Grenoble's Institut d'Etudes Politiques.

He manipulates the image to build a strange poetic and renew the visual codes of photography. Since 2001, he has been exhibiting his artworks all over the world. He published two monographs : Vous êtes ici, ed. Actes Sud in 2003 and TV, ed. Hatje Cantz, in 2008. Thanks to computer software?s possibilities, he stages impossible little events in his series « Intervalle », the repetition of the characters' presence weirdly occupies the landscapes.

Former laureate of the Foundation CFF for Photography in 2003, Mathieu Bernard-Reymond broaches the question of landscape, alternating between notions of reality and imagination. In 2009, he won the Price Arcimboldo with the series "Monuments".
