Introduction

Gilles Desrozier was born on November 15th 1963 in Paris.

Gilles Desrozier considers himself to be a veritable poet of the contemporary era, not only because of his subjects that respond to what people usually understand in poetry, but also because of the way he tries to break down the definition, that is to say the reason.

Not only does Gilles Desrozier reroute perception, he tackles himself to enchant it as well. His knowledge of composition and his sense of chromatic compatibility arouse a galvanic ocular excitement. His world is a world in itself, a product of the union between different layers of reality. His Inscape series is inspired by a personal experience, a childhood dream in which the forest's image absorbed him whole, body and soul. The artist drags us into his inner univere.

Gilles Desrozier's work is imbued with a muffled and resistant tension between architecture and nature but does not carry any environmental or ecological moralization. His works have their own plastic, defined by a great meticulousness and an incredible delicacy without which we could not believe his visions. He allows conflicts and accidents to confront the antithetical poles: the wall and the perspective, the in and out, the above and the below, the life and the death, the dream and the material. That is how myths are born.

I always wanted to live parallel life. On one side, my artistic life: free in what I choose and desire. On the other side, my professional life would guarantee me a financial autarky. From my earliest childhood, fascinated by the image, I knew I had to build 'my lives' around this axis.

I am a photographer that always trained through work to all image techniques. I can tell I worked in many fields linked to photography. Printing, production, photoengraving, journalism…These jobs allowed and still allow my independency. On the artistic field I have always been well surrounded! My father was a photographer, my mother paints. I had a stepfather who was a painter and another who was a writer…

I was immersed in an artistic universe since I was a young child… Then I quickly knew I needed two essential things to consider building a world. Being really humble and not be in debt (financially) to anyone.”
