acte I - hommage a la galerie texbraun 1980 - 1986

François Braunschweig and Hugues Autexier, better known as Texbraun, started out as booksellers before setting up shop at the Flea Market and founding their gallery on Rue Mazarine. Under their passionate direction, Galerie Texbraun exhibited 19th-century photographers while also championing contemporary artists like Robert Mapplethorpe, Pierre et Gilles, Joel-Peter Witkin, and Bettina Rheims.

The Galerie Texbraun played a pivotal role in the recognition of photography in France, contributing to the dynamic evolution of the photographic market. It closed its doors in 1986, leaving behind an indelible legacy in the history of French photography.
